One, corn stalk fermentation for geese. Using fermented corn stover powder in goose farming has proven to be effective, especially for geese aged from 1 to 4 months. This method can save up to 3 kilograms of feed per goose. For example, feeding them for three months can save as much as 13.5 kilograms of feed. Additionally, the geese grow faster and healthier.
The feeding method is as follows (based on 100 kg of straw feed):
1. Mix 0.2 kg of biological preparation with 1.3 kg of corn bran and stir thoroughly.
2. Combine the corn bran mixture with 69.8 kg of straw powder and continue stirring evenly.
3. Add the right amount of water—enough so that when you squeeze it, a few drops fall. In winter, use warm water between 30–50°C. Then place the mixture in a pit or container, or seal it directly in a plastic bag for fermentation.
4. The fermentation time depends on the season: 2–3 days from mid-May to mid-October, and 5–7 days from mid-October to mid-May.
5. Start feeding the geese after they are one month old. Begin with small amounts and gradually increase to 50%. For growing geese, this method can be used from 3 to 5 months of age. Breeding geese can be fed 70% fermented feed during the egg-laying period, combined with 30% other materials. A recommended formula includes 15% sunflower meal, 4% bone meal, 10% corn, and 1% shell powder, along with clean drinking water.
Second, using sunflower shell powder in goose feeding has also shown great results. Through the roughage fermentation method, raising 120 geese can reach a weight of 4 kg or more. Sunflower seeds should be dried first and then crushed. After heat treatment, the nutritional value of sunflower shell powder increases significantly. The main process involves soaking the sunflower powder in 100°C water and mixing it with other feed ingredients.
Brooding geese can start being fed sunflower flour 20 days after hatching. Initially, the amount is small and gradually increased. By day 30, the sunflower flour can make up 30% of the feed, meaning 70% coarse material and 30% powder. By day 60, the proportion can be increased to 60%, and by day 90, up to 80%. This method not only improves growth but also reduces feed costs significantly.
