Effect of Plant Fertilizer King on Eggplant Growth

Abstract: Spraying King of Plant Fertilizer, a foliar fertilizer, in greenhouses significantly boosts eggplant yield, improves quality, and delivers strong economic returns. This method is highly recommended for greenhouse cultivation and other vegetable crops.
Keywords: King of Plant Fertilizer; Eggplant; Foliar Spraying; The product was developed by the Institute of Earth Biology in Hengyang, Hunan. It is an organic, eco-friendly, broad-spectrum, high-efficiency, and multi-functional liquid fertilizer. Its main ingredient is alkaloids (0.6% from bitter buckwheat seeds), which enhances photosynthesis, promotes balanced nutrient release, and has been widely used in Hunan with notable yield increases. To evaluate its effect on eggplants, a two-year field trial (1999–2000) was conducted. The results are presented here.

1. Materials and Methods
1.1 Test Materials: The fertilizer was produced by the Hengyang Institute of Biology, diluted 100x and 150x. The experiment took place in a municipal vegetable base greenhouse in Ningbo New District. The soil was purple soil with high fertility. The eggplant variety used was Kangle No. 1, planted at a density of 1800 plants per mu. The planting period in 1998 was November 1 to January 20, 1999, with harvesting from April 18 to June 15, 1999. In 1999, planting occurred from October 13 to January 28, 2000, with harvests from April 20 to June 23, 2000.

1.2 Experimental Design: Organic fertilizer (4000 kg/acre) and compound fertilizer (30 kg/acre) were used as base fertilizers. Top dressing was applied four times with urea (3 kg/acre each time). Three treatments were set up: (1) 100x dilution of King of Plant Fertilizer, (2) 150x dilution, and (3) control with clear water. The design was randomized with four replications. Plot sizes were 15 m² in 1999 and 30 m² in 2000. All plots were sprayed once using a backpack sprayer after the first flowering stage (March 16) and again after fruit setting, ensuring even coverage on both sides of the leaves.

2. Results and Analysis
2.1 Yield Effect: Over two years, the application of King of Plant Fertilizer significantly increased eggplant yields. In 1999, the 100x treatment yielded 2340 kg/acre, 1760 kg more than the control, a 32.95% increase. The 150x treatment yielded 2260 kg/acre, a 28.41% increase over the control. In 2000, the 100x treatment reached 2560 kg/acre, a 29.42% increase, while the 150x treatment reached 2485 kg/acre, a 25.63% increase. Both treatments showed significant improvements compared to the control, but no significant difference between 100x and 150x.

Note: Average price in 1999 was 2.7 yuan/kg; in 2000 it was 2.96 yuan/kg.

2.2 Economic Impact: Compared to the control, the use of King of Plant Fertilizer increased output value by 1566 yuan in 1999 and 1722.7 yuan in 2000. The input-output ratio was 1:78.3 for 100x in 1999 and 1:86.1 in 2000, showing strong economic returns.

2.3 Quality and Traits: The treated eggplants had better appearance, brighter color, and higher marketability. On May 12, 2000, the average length of eggplants from the 100x treatment was 40.8 cm, and 40.6 cm for the 150x treatment, compared to 35.7 cm in the control. Vitamin C content also increased by 1.6 mg/100g compared to the control, and the fruit remained fresh longer.

3. Summary
3.1 After two years of testing, the use of King of Plant Fertilizer improved plant growth, leaf color, disease resistance, and overall quality. The eggplants were well-received in the morning markets.

3.2 The fertilizer promotes phosphate decomposition, increases fruit set, and enhances fruit size and yield. The 100x treatment boosted yield by 29.42–32.95%, and the 150x by 25.63–28.41%. It also increases vitamin C content.

3.3 With high-quality results and strong economic benefits, the King of Plant Fertilizer is highly recommended for widespread use in vegetable crops like eggplants and soybeans in our region.
