How to Properly Apply Microbial Fertilizer (Bio-Fertilizer)?
Microbial fertilizer is a beneficial product that promotes plant growth and improves soil health. However, if used incorrectly, it may not deliver the expected results, which could discourage users and hinder the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies. To ensure effective use, it's essential to understand the correct application methods. When applied properly, microbial fertilizers can significantly boost crop yield with minimal input.
Take Jinbao Microbial Fertilizer as an example. This type of bio-fertilizer mainly contains three types of functional microorganisms: nitrogen-fixing bacteria, phosphate-solubilizing bacteria, and potassium-mobilizing bacteria. These microbes produce various plant growth hormones during fermentation and reproduction, which stimulate root development and overall plant growth.
Jinbao Microbial Fertilizer consists of three main components: first, microorganisms combined with organic matter such as livestock manure, peat, and soybean meal; second, quick-release nutrients to provide immediate nourishment; and third, trace elements tailored to address specific nutrient deficiencies in different soils.
There are two common ways to apply microbial fertilizer: seed coating and soil application. Seed coating is ideal for large grain crops like wheat, corn, rice, and soybeans. Mix one kilogram of the fertilizer with cold water to form a paste, then combine it with the required amount of seeds per acre. Let the seeds dry in the shade before sowing. For transplanted vegetables and shiitake mushrooms, gently remove the roots before applying the fertilizer. For seeds of melons, tobacco, or other crops, mix the seed dressing agent into the seedbed soil at a rate of two kilograms per square meter.
Gully application is suitable for crops like wheat. Spread the fertilizer and seeds evenly in the furrow, with a depth of about 10 cm. It can also be applied directly near the roots in planting holes. For lawns, simply sprinkle the fertilizer over the grass area. For fruit trees, apply the fertilizer in late autumn or early spring. For small fruit trees, dig a circular trench around the base of the tree within the drip line, at a depth of 20 cm, and apply 0.25 kg of fertilizer per plant. For mature trees, use a radial groove method, applying 1 to 3 kg of fertilizer per tree, followed by watering.
