How to Use Microbial Fertilizer Correctly
Microbial fertilizer, also known as biological fertilizer, is a highly effective and eco-friendly product that can greatly enhance soil fertility and plant growth. However, if not used properly, it may fail to deliver the expected benefits, leading to user dissatisfaction and hindering the adoption of advanced agricultural technologies. Therefore, understanding the correct application method is crucial to maximizing its potential.
Take Jinbao microbial fertilizer as an example. This type of fertilizer contains three main types of functional microorganisms: those that fix nitrogen, solubilize phosphate, and release potassium. These microbes produce various plant growth-stimulating hormones during their fermentation and reproduction process, which help promote healthy plant development.
The composition of Jinbao microbial fertilizer includes three key elements: first, microorganisms combined with organic matter such as livestock manure, peat, and soybean meal; second, quick-release nutrients that provide immediate nourishment to plants; and third, trace elements tailored to address specific nutrient deficiencies in different soils.
There are two main ways to apply microbial fertilizer: seed coating and soil application. Seed coating is ideal for large-seed crops like wheat, corn, rice, and soybeans. To prepare the coating, mix one kilogram of the fertilizer with cold water to form a paste, then evenly blend it with the required amount of seeds per acre. After mixing, let the seeds dry in the shade before planting.
For transplanted vegetables and shiitake mushrooms, remove the roots before applying the fertilizer. For seeds, melons, and tobacco, mix the seedbed soil with two kilograms of the fertilizer before sowing.
Gully application is suitable for crops like wheat. Spread the fertilizer and seeds evenly into the furrow, at a depth of about 10 cm. It can also be applied directly around the roots or in small holes near the root zone.
This fertilizer can also be used on lawns and fruit trees. For fruit trees, apply it in late autumn or early spring. For young trees, dig a circular trench around the base of the tree crown, about 20 cm deep, and apply 0.25 kg of fertilizer per tree. For mature trees, use a radial groove method, applying 1 to 3 kg of fertilizer per tree, followed by watering.
