Application Effect of Silicon-calcium Fertilizer on Apple Trees

Fruit trees are typically perennial plants that grow in a fixed location for many years, continuously drawing nutrients from the soil. If the essential nutrients required by these trees are not properly replenished, it can lead to an increased risk of pests and diseases, as well as physiological damage that reduces both yield and fruit quality. Many growers tend to overuse nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium fertilizers while neglecting the importance of trace elements. However, trace elements such as silicon, calcium, magnesium, sulfur, boron, manganese, iron, and zinc play a crucial role in the healthy growth and development of fruit trees. Zhengbao Si-Ca fertilizer is specifically formulated with these essential microelements, and when applied, it significantly improves fruit color, firmness, and sugar content, helping to produce high-quality apples. When applied to apple trees, silicon-calcium fertilizer enhances tree vigor and increases yield. Apple trees that are 8–9 years old typically produce around 150 kg of fruit annually. However, as they remain in the same spot for long periods, they deplete the soil of essential nutrients, especially silicon and calcium, which are often overlooked. After applying silicon-calcium fertilizer, the growth of the tree becomes more vigorous, with thicker branches, larger leaves, and a healthier appearance. The leaves become darker green, flatter, and more resilient due to increased silicification, which also boosts chlorophyll levels. This leads to better photosynthesis and overall stronger tree health. Trees treated with this fertilizer show a yield increase of over 10%, compared to those without it, which often have smaller, curled, and uneven leaves with poor light penetration. In addition to improving yield, silicon-calcium fertilizer also helps enhance fruit quality and promotes earlier maturity. Apples treated with this fertilizer tend to color up 3–5 days faster and mature about 10 days earlier than untreated ones. The fruit is brighter, larger, and of higher market value. This improvement is due to better nutrient balance and enhanced leaf area, which supports more efficient photosynthesis and provides more carbohydrates for fruit development. The increased availability of phosphorus and other minerals also contributes to higher sugar content, better aroma, and improved taste. Another key benefit of using silicon-calcium fertilizer is its ability to increase fruit hardness, making apples more resistant to storage and transportation. Applying about 5 kg of this fertilizer per tree can significantly improve fruit firmness, ensuring better shelf life and reduced damage during transit. It is recommended to apply this fertilizer in autumn or early spring, mixing it with the soil or other fertilizers for optimal results. For trees aged between 8 and 15 years, a dose of approximately 5 kg per tree is ideal. Using this type of fertilizer not only boosts productivity but also ensures the long-term health and sustainability of the orchard.
