Transgenic Technology Helps Soybean Yield

There are currently three new breeds of “Zhonghuang 13”, “Zhonghuang 19” and “Zhonghuang 21”. It has already produced more than 300 kilograms per mu, respectively." Wang Lianjun believes that soybean light emphasizes quality and oil content is not enough, and production must go up. China has an annual output of 170 million to 18 million tons of soybeans and imports 20 million tons of soybeans every year. Such a large gap will not increase production. Otherwise, the enthusiasm of farmers to grow soybeans is not high. Wang Lianjun said that high yields of soybeans cannot be achieved by traditional methods alone. They should rely on genetically modified organisms to conduct experiments on the safety of genetically modified foods. They must learn from foreign practices and identify the genetically modified food ingredients listed on the market. The European Union requires that the genetically modified food ingredient account for 0.9% of the required label, the Korean Regulations account for 3% of the label, and Japan sets the standard at 5%%. China should formulate its own standards so that the people have a choice of genetically modified foods.
