Summer Cherry Management

The summer temperature in Wuhan can be as high as 40°C and the weather is hot and rainy. In this high-temperature climate, appropriate measures must be taken to ensure the normal growth of cherry blossoms. 1. Grass-covered, drought-proof summers have high temperatures, rapid evaporation, and more watering than other seasons, but they must still adhere to the principle of “do not do it without pouring, and pour it with water”. Sakura is a shallow rooted plant, and the roots of growth are close to the soil surface, easy to dry, and can be used to cover the roots of straw, which not only moisturizes and resists drought, but also prevents the capillary roots of cherry trees from being washed out and exposed, while greatly reducing the evaporation of soil moisture. 2. Wrapping to prevent drought In the period of 2 to 3 years after planting, straw can be used to prevent stem drying. Because the cherry bark is thin, the bark can be protected against drought, sunburn, and cold in winter. After two or three years, the young trees grow new roots, and their environmental resistance is gradually enhanced. There is no need to pack grass. 3. Watering in the high temperature season in midsummer is not suitable for watering at noon and should be done in the morning and in the evening. Loose soil once every second day after watering, which is good for root breathing. 4. Pest control In June-August, when high temperature and drought, cherry blossoms are vulnerable to spider mites, and can be sprayed with 50% bromohydrin emulsion 2500 times or omethoate, dicofol and other agents to prevent and treat, and can receive good results. It is important to note that fleas are susceptible to drug resistance and acaricides are used interchangeably.
