Start by mixing pig manure with straw, sawdust, mushroom residue, and dry soil powder in the right proportions. For every 1 ton of material (equivalent to about 2.5 tons of fresh manure), add 1 kg of Jinbao starter. First, dilute the starter with 1 kg of water and 5 kg of rice bran (or bran, corn flour, etc.), then evenly spread this mixture over the pile. Mix everything thoroughly to ensure even distribution. It’s best to use fresh rice bran instead of old or cooked ones, as it provides better nutrition and aeration. During fermentation, make sure to supply enough oxygen and turn the pile regularly. The internal temperature should rise to around 70°C. If it gets too hot, it may damage the nutrients. Keep the moisture level between 60% and 65%. Too much or too little water can hinder the process—too little slows down fermentation, while too much causes poor aeration, slow heating, and unpleasant smells. To adjust the moisture, add more dry materials like straw, sawdust, or dry soil if needed. A simple test: take a handful of the mixture and squeeze it. It should feel moist but not drip. When released, it should crumble easily. The entire fermentation process takes about 5 to 7 days. Once complete, the resulting organic fertilizer will be fluffy, dark brown, slightly earthy, and rich in nutrients.
