Three operations damage the farm machinery

One common mistake is using a silk cloth as an air filter cover. Some people believe that wrapping the tractor's air filter with silk will improve filtration and make the air cleaner. However, what they don’t realize is that the silk can actually block airflow, making it harder for air to enter the cylinder. This leads to insufficient air supply, incomplete combustion, and eventually black smoke from the exhaust and a noticeable drop in engine power. Another improper practice is tightening the cylinder head bolts with an adjustable wrench instead of a torque wrench. The correct procedure requires using special sockets and a torque wrench to evenly tighten the bolts in a diagonal pattern, starting from the center and moving outward. Using a regular wrench may result in over-tightening, broken nuts, or uneven torque, which can cause the cylinder head to warp and lead to serious engine problems. A third mistake is cleaning engine parts with cotton yarn. During engine overhaul, some technicians use cotton rags soaked in diesel fuel to clean components and the crankshaft. While this might remove oil, it also leaves behind tiny cotton fibers that can get stuck in the oil filter. These fibers can block the oil passages, leading to poor lubrication and potentially damaging the bearings. To avoid this, it’s better to use a brush or a clean cloth designed for engine cleaning, ensuring no residue is left behind. By avoiding these common errors, you can maintain the performance and longevity of your engine. Always follow the manufacturer's guidelines and use the right tools and materials for each task.
