Study Finds: Fat Cells Power Cancer

A study published on April 9 by the US cancer cell magazine explained how fat tissue can provide energy for tumors. This has made it possible for the medical community to develop new anti-cancer therapies.

Researchers at the Sanford Bernam Prebisch Institute for Medical Discovery in the United States and the Technical University of Munich in Germany have found through animal experiments that the inactivation of a protein called p62 in fat cells inhibits a type of protein called breast-feeding. The protein of animal rapamycin target protein, which promotes prostate tumors to shut off the energy-consuming process of adipose tissue, absorb fatty acids and other nutrients, accelerate growth and transfer to other parts of the body.

The researchers pointed out that the current mammalian rapamycin target protein inhibitors are used in the treatment of many cancers, and this study just can explain how this inhibitor exerts its anticancer effect.

Maria Diaz Meco, of the Samford Burnham Prebisch Institute for Medical Discovery, who participated in the study, said that cancer is not only a gene or cellular disease, but also a mutuality of tumors and metabolic organs. Exchange the whole body process that continues to seize nutrition. This study will help the medical community find better anti-cancer therapies. (According to Xinhua News Agency)
