Safety use and maintenance of thresher

1. Safe Operation of the Thresher

(1) Since the thresher operates under high stress and in a challenging environment, all personnel involved in the threshing process must receive proper safety training. They should be fully aware of the operating procedures and safety measures, such as wearing protective gear like masks, goggles, and ensuring sleeves are securely fastened to prevent entanglement.

(2) Before using the thresher, it is essential to conduct a thorough inspection of the rotating and swinging parts to ensure they move smoothly without any obstructions. Check that the adjustment mechanisms are functioning correctly and that all safety features are intact and effective. Also, make sure there is no debris inside the machine and that all lubrication points are properly oiled.

(3) Prior to starting the machine, the work area should be cleared of any unnecessary items or obstacles. It is crucial to keep children away from the site to prevent accidental injuries.

(4) During operation, feed the wheat evenly into the drum. Never use your hands or tools to push the grain into the machine. Be cautious to avoid feeding hard objects like stones or sticks, which can damage the equipment.

(5) Ensure the drive belt is securely fastened. Never attempt to adjust or touch the belt while the machine is running, as this can lead to serious accidents.

(6) The power source used to drive the thresher must match the required speed ratio. This helps prevent excessive wear on the machine and reduces the risk of violent vibrations that could damage internal components or loosen bolts.

(7) Avoid running the thresher continuously for long periods. After about eight hours of operation, it is recommended to stop, inspect, adjust, and lubricate the machine to reduce friction and prevent severe wear or deformation.

(8) Most threshers are powered by diesel engines. A fireproof mask should be worn near the exhaust pipe to prevent potential fire hazards.

(9) If a malfunction occurs during operation, immediately turn off the machine and have it inspected and repaired by a qualified technician. Do not attempt to fix it yourself, as this may cause further damage.

2. Maintenance of the Thresher

(1) After finishing the threshing task, thoroughly clean the machine to remove dust and debris. Repaint any areas where the paint has chipped or peeled off during use to prevent rust and maintain the machine's appearance.

(2) Any cracked or welded parts should be repaired promptly to ensure the structural integrity of the machine.

(3) When installing the bar, make sure the small end (bevel) faces the feeding direction. The adjacent bars should be positioned in opposite directions to prevent uneven loading and ensure even distribution of the grain inside the drum.

(4) Tighten the pattern bolts according to the specified torque, typically in 3–4 stages. Check that each bolt has a lock nut, as these can easily become loose due to the high-speed operation of the thresher. Only use the correct bolts; never substitute them with other types.

(5) After repairing the thresher roller, perform a static balance test until the roller runs smoothly without vibration.

(6) Inspect the machine’s guard cover regularly. If it is damaged, replace it immediately to ensure operator safety.

(7) Perform full maintenance by adding sufficient lubricating oil to all lubrication points. Apply anti-rust oil to the threads of each adjusting screw. Store the thresher in a dry and well-ventilated area, and avoid placing any debris on top of the machine to prevent structural deformation.
