Potassium deficiency in some crops

corn

When potassium is severely deficient, corn emerges in the first few weeks and symptoms appear. The tips of the corn and the edges of the leaves are yellow, the old leaves gradually wither and the internodes are shortened; the growth period is delayed, the ear is smaller, the top of the ear is thin, or the grain is not full. Starch content decreased, susceptible to ear disease.

Rice

Rice lacks potassium. The leaves begin to show tan-colored focal spots and spots from the lower leaves, and gradually expand toward the upper leaves. In severe cases, the rice leaves in the field become red and fire-like. The plant height decreased, the leaf color was dark, heading was uneven, the rate of spike formation was low, the spike shape was small, the seed setting rate was poor, and the grain was not full. Due to different cultivation seasons, variety types, and soil conditions, there are differences in symptoms. One is the potassium-deficiency disease, or "bronze disease," that occurs during the returning period of childbirth. The second type is potassium deficient brown spot. The third category is potassium deficiency leaf spot disease.

wheat

The lack of potassium in wheat, the lower leaves pale green, plant growth is slow, mechanical tissue development is poor, the lower leaves premature yellow, stalks are weak and easy lodging.

cotton

In potassium deficiency in cotton, at the seedling stage or at the bud stage, leaf chlorosis occurs first in the middle leaves of the main stem, and then turns pale yellow, but the veins are still normal. After the occurrence of brown spots between the veins, the central part of the spot died, the tip and edges of the spots were charred and curled downwards. In severe cases, the entire leaves were brown-red, prematurely dry and fall off, the bolls were thin, the bolls were sluggish, and the yield was low. Poor quality, generally known as "red leaf blight," Hubei called "blight."

tomato

Tomato lacks potassium, and the young leaves are curled. The old leaves are initially gray-green and the leaves are yellow-green until the leaves are dry and the leaves curl upward. Sometimes there is chlorosis between veins and brown spots appear. When there is a lack of potassium in fruit, there are empty pods, less pulp, or "green back" disease.

Soybean

The soybean lacks potassium, and the old leaves have irregular yellow spots from the edges of the leaves and gradually expand. The leaves near the middle veins and other parts are still green. Grain shrinkage, deformity.
