A new and improved CO2 insufflator can help the early detection and diagnosis of colon and rectal cancer with computed tomography (CT) virtual colonoscopy and improve the safety of the examination and patient comfort.
This Vimap CO2 insufflator allows high-risk patients to perform continuous insufflation in either automatic or manual inflated mode. The maximum blowing rate can be adjusted from 1 liter to 3 liters per minute; the CO2 pressure can be adjusted to 5-25 mm Hg in automatic mode up to 35 mm Hg in manual mode.
The Vimap CO2 insufflator is manufactured by GE Healthcare in France, and the regulator of the instrument is placed on a high-pressure gas cylinder to ensure maximum pressure into the latch while monitoring the amount of CO2 remaining in the cylinder. It uses a disposable catheter for smooth, comfortable, and automated colon injection.
Virtual colonoscopy is now widely used as a screening and examination method for colon and rectal cancer. In the past, doctors used hand-held air-conditioner air blowers to bloating the colon, but now the improved Vimap CO2 insufflator has become virtual. The instrument of choice for colonoscopy.
