Recently, the Chinese Medical Association Nephrology Branch officially released the "Granocortic Hormone Therapy for Kidney Disease Expert Consensus"*. Academician Chen Xiangmei pointed out that, first of all, the publication of the Consensus meets the increasingly urgent need for the application of glucocorticoids in China. Glucocorticoids are a general term for a class of hormones synthesized and secreted by the adrenal cortical bundle. As early as 1935, the *corticosteroid "cortisone" was already available. Since then, the variety of glucocorticoids has increased, due to its exact anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects, it is widely used in the clinical treatment of kidney disease. The application of glucocorticoids has strict indications. Improper use can cause serious side effects. At present, some regions and some doctors in China are not familiar with the usage and dosage of glucocorticoids, and there are excessive and underuse of glucocorticoids. Therefore, it is necessary to regulate the use of glucocorticoids. The Consensus is to help solve this problem.
Second, the "Consensus" condenses the wisdom of national kidney disease experts.
