There are two physiological and physical factors that produce curved melons. Physiological factors are mostly caused by malnutrition of plants, such as lack of light, improper management of temperature and moisture, or normal water supply in early stage of melon, insufficient water supply in later period, or caused by diseases and insect pests. High temperature, large temperature difference between day and night, too little light, less ground temperature, when the ground temperature is lower, it is more prone to bending melon. Some flowering ovary is curved and grows with the young fruit. Bending melons occur more often in the first or last ear.
