Humanized antibody mice with intellectual property rights have broken the monopoly of foreign technology.
The humanized antibody animal firstly knocks out the antibody gene of the animal itself, and then introduces the human antibody gene into the animal, thereby enabling the animal to produce a fully humanized antibody for diagnosis and treatment of the disease.
"Humanized antibody mice are the core tool for the development of fully humanized antibody drugs, and have great commercial and strategic value." Dr. Ge Liangpeng, director of the Institute of Bioengineering, Chongqing Academy of Animal Science, introduced that by the end of 2017, US food and drug The Authority has approved the listing of 25 fully humanized antibody drugs, 18 of which are derived from humanized antibody transgenic animals with an annual output value of more than $10 billion. Due to the difficulty in cultivating humanized antibody animals, only a few strains have been successfully cultivated in the world, and they have been monopolized by several foreign companies. Pharmaceutical companies need to pay a high price to have the opportunity to use humanized antibody animals for antibody drug development.
“Our team spent five years conducting technical research to develop humanized antibody mice with independent intellectual property rights.†Ge Liangpeng said that they have independently developed fully humanized antibody mouse strains and fully humanized single domains. The antibody mouse strain has applied for 10 domestic and foreign invention patents, and has been cooperating with some pharmaceutical companies for drug development.
