Four kinds of wrong rabbit breeding methods

Antibiotics play a crucial role in treating animal diseases, but their misuse has become a growing concern. In recent years, to enhance the growth of livestock and poultry, antibiotics have been widely used as feed additives, which initially showed positive results. However, this practice has also led to several negative consequences. In rabbit farming, overuse of antibiotics is particularly problematic. These drugs can disrupt the normal microbial balance in the cecum, impair digestion, and even lead to health issues. Therefore, it's essential to use antibiotics responsibly and avoid unnecessary or excessive administration. Inbreeding is another critical issue that many rabbit farmers overlook. When closely related rabbits are bred together, it can lead to weakened genetic diversity, resulting in poor growth, lower immunity, and an increased risk of genetic disorders such as physical deformities. Some farmers are careless when selecting breeding stock, leading to practices like father-daughter or brother-sister mating, which can severely impact the quality of the offspring. Infectious diseases such as pasteurellosis are often given more attention than parasitic infections in rabbits. However, parasites can be just as harmful, affecting both growth and reproductive performance. Preventive measures include maintaining clean living conditions, regularly removing and disposing of feces, and disinfecting the housing area. Controlling intermediate hosts like snails, slugs, rats, and beetles is also important. Additionally, regular deworming and seasonal parasite control can help reduce infestations effectively. Forage poisoning is another serious problem that is sometimes ignored. While rabbits are known to eat a wide variety of plants, some common grasses and plants can be toxic. For example, regrowing corn or sorghum shoots may cause cyanide poisoning, while wilted leaves can lead to nitrite poisoning. Cottonseed meal and cottonseed hulls contain gossypol, which can be toxic to rabbits, and rapeseed meal contains glucosinolates that may also cause poisoning. Other dangerous plants include sweet potatoes, eucalyptus leaves, oleander, and moldy feed with black spots. It's vital for farmers to be aware of these risks and ensure that their rabbits are not exposed to harmful vegetation.
