The province strictly inspects the source of raw materials for propolis health food

On December 9 (Reporter Xu Zhen), CCTV and other media recently exposed a few domestic propolis companies' “fake gums posing as propolis” counterfeiters, causing widespread public concern. The reporter was informed today that the Shanghai Municipal Food and Drug Administration had conducted a one-to-one investigation on the production enterprises of propolis containing raw health food products in the city, and the propolis production enterprises had actively sealed up the products.

The reporter recently visited some pharmacies and health products wholesale markets in the city and found that most of the propolis products sold in the city are propolis capsules, propolis wine, and propolis liquid. In pharmacies, the price of propolis capsules ranges from 100 yuan to 200 yuan; in the wholesale market for health products, propolis capsules have a minimum of only 30-40 yuan. According to surveys, the propolis origins sold in the market are mostly Shandong, Nanjing, Zhejiang and Guangzhou.

The reporter learned that, for media coverage of the quality problems of propolis products in Henan and Zhejiang, the Provincial Food and Drug Administration has conducted special inspections on the production of formula containing propolis health food in the province, focusing on checking the food hygiene license of raw material propolis suppliers. Whether the license, business license and factory inspection report and other relevant information are complete; whether raw material propolis purchase quantity, inventory quantity and production consumption can achieve material balance; whether the company purchases raw material propolis from Changge City, Henan Province, etc.
